Make Up Mistakes that Make You Look Older

Make up should be used to hide the flaws and enhance your features and if used correctly can take years off your face. There are a lot of women who look older than they are when they apply make up which happens when you do not apply it properly or use the wrong products.Today, I would like to share some common make up mistakes which age you and make you look older than you really are.

1. Too much Foundation

Foundation is used to hide your minor flaws and even out your complexion. If you do not need a heavy coverage then opt for a sheer foundation and use it sparingly on your problem areas. Using too much foundation can make you look cakey and add years to your face.

2. Wrong Shade of Concealer

Using too light or dark shade will only accentuate the dark circles and make you look like a clown. If you are not sure about the right shade then you can even take help from the SA at the counter of the cosmetic outlet. Most of them are trained to help you pick the right make up.

3. Thick Eyeliner

Many women apply a thick line which weighs down their eye and make them look droopy. Go easy on the liner and soften the look by using a pencil eyeliner and smudging it with a q- tip for a natural look and to open up your eyes.

4. Thin Eyebrows

Eyebrows frame your face and shapeless or thin brows can break your whole look even if you are wearing the right makeup. Go easy on the plucking and if you have naturally thin brows then fill them up with a eye brow pencil in deep brown shade. Avoid using a black colored one as it can look artificial.

5. Dark Lip liner

Wearing a darker lip liner than the lip color can make you look old. Always choose the lip liner in the same shade as your lipstick and blend it well. If you do not have the same shade then buy a lip liner which matches your natural lip color and use it with all your lipsticks.

6. Mascara on Lower Lashes

Applying mascara on lower lashes can draw attention to your dark circles. Always apply mascara on your upper lids and wiggle it to avoid clumps or spidery lashes.

7. Dark and Matte Lip colors

Applying dark and matte colors on your lips can make them look thinner and highlight the fine lines. Always apply a lipstick with creamy or glossy finish in shades such as pinks, peaches, rose etc as it makes you look young and fresh.

8. Choosing the Wrong Shade of Blush

Many women choose a blush shade which does not compliment their skin tone and make them look washed out. Always wear a blush according to your undertone and apply in on the cheekbone instead of the apple of your cheeks. The right shade of blush makes you look younger and instantly brightens up your face.

Stay happy and keep shining 🙂
