DIY (Do it Yourself), Make Up

How to make Powder Blush at Home

Making makeup at home can be exciting and fun. Apart from being free from harmful chemicals, they are good for the skin too. Today I would like to share a very simple recipe by which you can prepare your own powder blush from beetroot.

Ingredients required

Beetroot Powder

Arrowroot Powder/Kooya or Baby Powder

Cocoa Powder

You can either use store bought beetroot powder or make it yourself at home.

To make it at home, boil some beets and cut them into thin slices. Now you would need to dehydrate them in an oven. I would not suggest the “keeping it out in the sun” method as it can get contaminated with environmental factors such as dust and pollution. Set the temperature of your oven to 140 degree fahrenheit and prop it open in order to avoid any moisture to set in. In approximately 8-9 hours the beets would be dehydrated and can be turned into powder by using a grinder. You can also purchase beetroot powder from any supermarket or online suppliers if you do not wish to get into the hassle of dehydrating them.

You can make different shades by mixing the ingredients in different quantities. You can mix Arrowroot powder or baby powder and beetroot powder and get a lighter shade of pink. In case you want a darker shade then you can mix cocoa powder with the beetroot powder.

Things to Remember

  1. Grind the beetroot powder very fine as otherwise it might not set on the skin.
  2. Store the powder in an airtight container to avoid contamination.
  3. Do not put wet hands in the container as it can introduce bacteria and fungus into it.
  4. You can also add ground ginger if you want to have a shimmery blush.

Hope you all enjoyed the post…Stay happy and keep shining 🙂
