DIY (Do it Yourself)

Homemade All Purpose Body Butter

I am an ardent user of organic products and love making my own stuff at home which has less chemicals and have the goodness of nature’s bounty. I have been using this all purpose body butter for quite some time now and would like to share the recipe with my readers today. It’s very nourishing and can be used for almost everything such as a body moisturizer, massage cream, for chapped lips, cuticle cream and cracked heels. It can be used throughout the year but those with oily skin can use this sparingly during summers.

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

1. Mango Butter
2. Shea Butter
3. Organic Coconut Oil
4. Sweet Almond Oil (Rogan Badam)
5. Any essential oil such as Chamomile, Patchouli,Bergamot, Sandalwood or Lavender (Optional)

METHOD

Take equal quantities of Shea butter, Mango butter, Organic coconut and Sweet almond oil in a bowl and melt it using the double boiler method i.e fill a pot with water and place the bowl inside it with all the ingredients on a low flame. Stir continuously until all the ingredients have melted and you have a concoction with a smooth consistency. Remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool at the room temperature. After that keep it in the refrigerator and let it sit there for approximately an hour or till it hardens to a cream like consistency. Now add a few drops of the essential oil (I prefer chamomile)to this and whip it with a blender to get a velvety texture. You can skip the essential oils as it is not necessary and keep it in the fridge for another 30-40 minutes for the cream to set. Store this in a mason jar or a sanitized container and use it like any other cream or moisturizer.

Things to Remember

1. Always use a sanitized container to store the product
2. Store the body butter in an airtight container to avoid contamination.
3. Do not put wet hands in the container as it can introduce bacteria and fungus into it.

I hope you all benefit from this post and please feel free to share this further.

Stay happy and keep shining 🙂
